The Community Engagement Ministry mobilizes our community to influence the world around us to become the place that God intended it to be. This ministry educates and trains the parish about local, national and world needs and coordinates direct service projects, both faith-based and secular. Ways to get involved:
If you enjoy a fun ministry and meeting new people, the Coffee And...Team might be a great fit. This team serves pastries, coffee and occasionally egg sandwiches on Sunday Mornings between masses and during the summer, after the 9:30am Mass. It is a great opportunity to relax after mass and get to know each other. Rather just bake on occasion? This ministry always welcomes new bakers!
Sacred Heart holds several annual events to build community, and open the doors of hospitality to non-parishioners. If you enjoy having fun and volunteer as part of a team, this ministry is for you.
The Daily Bread Food Pantry, which is located in Milford, serves area families who are in need. Non-perishable items are needed for the success of this mission and may be dropped off in collection boxes that are located at the entrances of the church.
Sacred Heart Parish supports the parish of St. Gerard in the Diocese of Les Cayes, Haiti through a variety of efforts. While much of the parish support takes the shape of financial gifts, volunteers are needed for many other tasks associated with this ministry.
Hospital Ministers of Care bring Communion to those who are patients at Milford Regional Hospital every Wednesday morning. Training is provided for this very important ministry.
Ministers of Care bring communion to those who are confined to their homes. They also spend time in prayer and fellowship. Ministers of Care foster a living link between Sacred Heart and parishioners who are unable to attend parish functions.
This ministry provides support to those who are grieving immediately after the death of a loved one. Volunteers are needed to serve as acolytes and A/V ministers during the funeral service.
On the third Tuesday of each month, Sacred Heart parishioners prepare, deliver, & serve a dinner at the Mustard Seed. The Mustard Seed is a non-profit organization that serves the homeless & low income families and individuals in Worcester.
Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide confidential one-to-one Christian care to people in our community who are experiencing difficulties in their lives. Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of training in how to listen and provide emotional and spiritual care to those who are hurting. A Stephen Minister is assigned to meet with a care receiver for one hour per week for as long as needed and provides care, encouragement, support and prayer.
St. Vincent de Paul serves the disadvantaged populations of the community. St. Vincent de Paul provides compassion and support to individuals in need and fruit baskets to shut-ins.
The Twice Blessed Boutique receives donated clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories which are sold to the public. All proceeds support the ministries of the Catholic Community of Sacred Heart. Adult and teen volunteers are always needed.
